Meet Eve

Her story

Eve is a world traveller currently living in Brussels with her life partner Serge. Driven by idealism she studied criminology, but she quickly felt that her worldview didn’t stroke with the negative and destructive justice environment she was working in. Learning from her career and dealing with a lot of loss in her life, she found meaning in the concept of the ‘wounded healer’: by healing our own wounds we can open our hearts again, soften our gaze and live to the fullest. Eve loves contrasts in life: you can find her dancing on electronic music or meditating against a tree 🙂 She nourishes herself with nature, reiki, sports, (solo)travelling, writing and silence. Her two favourite countries? India and the US!

Eve's nugget of wisdom

“Honor all aspects of life. All parts of the journey have beauty and grace. There’s beauty in the rising sun, just as there is in the setting sun. To only revel in the rising sun (and demean times of endings) depletes your energy.”

– Denise Linn –

A fun fact about Eve

Eve LOVES guinea pigs. On a journey to Peru she was visiting a guinea pig farm of her father’s friend. As a national Peruvian dish these beauties were bred to be served in local restaurants soon. Eve started crying in the middle of the farm and started a quest to go and hug every single one of those hundreds of guinea pigs, jumping from one cage to another 🙂

Meet Jelger

His story

Jelger considers himself a ‘recovering head person’ on a quest to discover the other parts of life’s spectrum. Growing up in Belgium, he struggled with an ongoing feeling of being ‘out of place’. Still he stuck to the safe path and became a practising trial lawyer. But during a road trip through the US, his revelation came: he needed a ‘restart’. One year later, he’d quit the bar, and moved to Canada together with his wife, Tanja.

In his newfound home, he learned to tune into the profound inner voice that had previously ‘haunted’ him. Where he was once an insecure, overweight, stressed lawyer, he’s turning into a confident, healthy, independent outdoorsman.

Jelger is passionate about rewilding, homesteading, meditation, shamanic practice, and self-improvement. He runs a wedding photography business with his wife Tanja in beautiful Vancouver, BC.

Jelger's nugget of wisdom

The most beautiful gift we can give ourselves, is self-compassion. It celebrates our strengths and successes, and embraces our imperfections and failures. It makes all of us profoundly human, and therefore reminds us that we’re all part of the same bigger ‘Whole of life’.

A fun fact about Jelger

Jelger is proud about becoming a rugged outdoorsman, but loves to embrace his softer side by collecting (and naming) a bunch of stuffed animals.

Meet Tanja

Her story

Tanja is a nature-lover, living in Vancouver BC with her hubby Jelger. Born and raised in Belgium, she worked as a physiotherapist in Ghent, before moving countries. Now in Canada she owns a photography business together with Jelger. She’s an enthusiastic hiker, a chronic starter of projects and a big dreamer. Tanja is profoundly intrigued by the concept of Wabi-Sabi, the beauty of imperfection and incompletion. And is on a journey of radical self-acceptance.

Tanja's nugget of wisdom

Perfectionism is a 20-ton shield that we lug around thinking it will protect us when, in fact, it’s the thing that’s really preventing us from being seen and taking flight.
– Brene Brown –

A fun fact about Tanja

Tanja loves all furry animals and especially cats. When there’s a cat on the street she abandons whatever she is doing to go pet it.
